On Friday 25 July 2025, the ÖLitt Literature Festival will take place at the Himmelsberga Ölands Museum, with this year’s theme focusing on “Öland in Literature”. The festival will offer a full day of literary programming from 10:30 to 17:15, featuring well-known authors and cultural commentators.
Among the participants are Lena Andersson, Per Wirtén, Cecilia Uddén, and John Ajvide Lindqvist, who will explore the role of Öland as a literary setting, source of inspiration, and cultural symbol.
Literary Afterparty in Kaffestugan
Following the day’s events, an informal afterparty will be held in Kaffestugan from 17:30 to 19:00. This gathering is open both to those who attended the day programme and those who missed it but still wish to take part in the festival’s spirit.
Five writers with personal or thematic ties to Öland will read their poetry: Bernice Chauly, Anders Johansson, Anna Winberg Sääf, Katarina Carlshamre, and Grethe Rottböll.
